MY PERSONAL FAVORITE  -  THE  MONOFILAMENT  WIG

Monofilament wigs are COOLER! Monofilament wigs look more natural....

CONSTRUCTION

Monofilament wigs are constructed from a thin gauze-like material. Each strand of “hair” is hand tied, or knotted, to the material one strand at a time. By doing so, the strands can swivel freely so the monofilament wig is easier to style. Most other standard cap wigs insert “bundles” of hair together and do not quite as natural as the monofilament wig.

In a standard wig the hairs are arranged in rows or a pattern. With monofilament wigs the wig is made with hairs that are more evenly spread over the surface of the cap. This results in the appearance of individual hairs growing from the scalp that makes it more natural looking. It looks like your own hair growing from your scalp. Remember earlier I mentioned that the part of a monofilament wig can be moved or changed due to this arrangement.

COMFORT

The monofilament cap tends to be somewhat softer and therefore more comfortable to wear than a standard cap wig. This is particularly important for those who have no natural hair remaining or are close to getting there.

VENTILATION

The way the strands are woven create ventilation helping to keep the scalp cooler and drier. The air can circulate around and prevent moisture and pressure build up under the cap.

SCALP

The somewhat translucent properties of the base material of a monofilament wig partially show your own scalp helping it to look more natural. It will tend to take on your own scalp color.

Although the monofilament wig costs a little more I believe it is well worth the extra money.

These properties make this my personal favorite. I particularly like Raquel Welch’s monofilament wigs and you can check out many of them here:
